Gipping successfully restored a traditional cottage and constructed a contemporary contrasting extension to form a new home.
The Client had enjoyed living in a large post war concrete/glazed house for over 30 years. After many years seeking planning for a new stand alone retirement home in the grounds, they obtained planning permission to extend an existing farm cottage.
The result is a dwelling in two parts – a modern sustainable building with a sedum roof occupied by the client and a cottage restored using traditional materials – lathes, lime, reclaimed bricks, etc – to be occupied by visiting grandchildren.
