The UK Government are publishing the Future Homes Standard this Autumn and confirmed today that solar panels will be included, leading to mandatory installation on the vast majority of new build homes.
To deliver these aims, building regulations will be amended to explicitly promote solar, with flexibility in place for new homes surrounded by trees or with lots of shade overhead.
Good news for the environment, yes, but this will impact the construction industry, placing additional strain on meeting strict programme deadlines where the infrastructure to connect to the grid doesn’t exist or is insufficient.
