We are so excited for our first ‘World of Work Day’ tomorrow at our Ravenswood site when we will welcome ten young people from local charity, Inspire Suffolk, to spend the day having taster sessions in five different trades.
Inspire have helped thousands of young people take their next steps into work, education or training, transforming their lives, overcoming obstacles and bringing their career aspirations to life.
Gipping became sponsors of Inspire last year, and aside from supporting financially, we are working with the charity to offer work taster days, hopefully to encourage more young people to train for a career in construction, or simply to help build their confidence to get back into the workplace.
Tomorrow will start with an induction and health & safety briefing by Contracts Manager, Peter Flatt and Project Manager, Lee Walsom followed by 50 minute taster sessions in each trade. At the end of the day, Allison Copeman from the CITB will talk about careers in construction.
None of this would be possible without the incredible support of our sub-contractors: EPPH Ltd, J&T Nichols Plastering, Ace Bugg Brickwork, Anglian Demolition and Asbestos Ltd, and MCE Electrical Contractors who are giving up their time and providing experts for on-site taster sessions, and Tiger Supplies, who have generously sponsored full PPE for each young person and the staff from Inspire.
