Amento, designed by award winning Architect, James Gorst, is a contemporary, single-storey, open plan house.
The facing brick faced diaphragm walls divide the house into four areas – the master bedroom, bathroom and study; the dining and entertaining areas; the accommodation quarter for guests and the fourth quarter for the garage and utilities.

The roof sheets, gutters and pipe work are all constructed from Zinc and a gravity rainwater drainage system uses chain downpipes.
Internally, the house features Douglas Fir plywood panelling throughout with a 2mm joint all round. Some of the panels are removeable with hidden fixings, for example, above the windows to conceal the electric blinds. There is open rafter detailing throughout with a sarking layer of Douglas Fir plywood.
Polished concrete floors by Lazenby with a rich walnut satin finish are throughout.
LED lighting is used throughout the house. The wood burner in the living area sits on a marble shelf which seamlessly adjoins wooden cabinetry running the width of the room with inset LEDs. A marble backdrop to the wood burner sits flush to the Douglas fir panelling.
In the kitchen, bespoke cabinetry by Buhr was constructed using Douglas Fir contrasting with worktops made from white stone.
The master bedroom features bespoke cabinetry by Buhr, again using Douglas Fir with a Cedar lining while the en-suite shower room features a roof light.
Imported Japanese tiles are used with white sanitaryware in the family WC.
Sliding pocket doors are fitted between the hall and study, the master bedroom and living area through to the other bedrooms.
Amento won the RIBA Suffolk Craftsmanship Award, 2024.

“It was a pleasure working with Gipping and we are very happy with our new home. Shaun Whiting was an exceptional Site Manager and remained professional, approachable and friendly throughout the entire build. The site was always tidy, well-managed and busy. We felt as if the entire Gipping team took our project seriously and truly cared about getting the build right. I would highly recommend you to anyone who is considering building a home.”
