Grimwade Street, Ipswich

Design and construction of 16 flats (in 2 blocks) on former retail/residential site in Grimwade Street, Ipswich. Masonry construction was adopted with emphasis on external detailing and material choice to ensure the building was in keeping with planning requirements for a prominent town centre development.

Challenges and Constraints

Town centre project, accessed off busy road.
Site very restricted with minimal space. UXO investigation
required. Japanese knotweed to remove.

Construction Processes and Methods
Piled foundations. Masonry construction with isolated steel
members, PCC floors and stairs, traditional materials used
in keeping with town centre street scene.

Environmental

As responsible contractors who are ISO14001 accredited,
we completed environmental risk assessments, minimised
waste and any waste was disposed of using licensed
companies. Waste was sorted at the collection depot. Typically, 90% of waste is recycled.
