Healthy Living Centre, Thetford, Norfolk

Works to Thetford Healthy Living Centre were completed in two phases. Phase One involved refurbishment and reconfiguration of office space to consulting rooms, treatment rooms, utility rooms and stores. Phase two saw the creation of a reception and waiting area. A new external lift shaft increased usability options for the first floor. Parking capacity was doubled and EV points installed.

Works included full strip-out of ceilings, floor finishes, studwork partitions and redundant mechanical and electrical services.

Extreme care and co-operation were imperative as ground floor and unaffected first floor areas were fully operational including dentistry, podiatry, phlebotomy, eye clinics, minor operations and two GP surgeries. Noise and cleanliness were critically monitored at all times.

Car park, lift shaft and drainage works were carried out in live areas so segregation of works, banking of vehicles and assisting with visitors, public and patients were of paramount importance. Re-surfacing and extension of the existing car park over doubled its capacity along with the installation of two EV charging points.

Out of hours works minimised disruption, ensuring all areas were kept working at all times.

Daily dialogue with the building management of the Healthy Living Centre maintained a good flow of information.

Externally works comprised new drainage, re-surfacing and extension of the existing car park along with the installation of two EV charging points.
