Andy has 35 years of construction experience working primarily in main contracting. Four of the years Andy worked as a cost consultant with clients who ranged from PQS/Contract Administrators, Main Contractors and Sub-Contractors.
Andy originally trained as a quantity surveyor at Amec (now Morgan Sindall), but latterly, at Gipping, managing all operational and commercial aspects. Andy has worked on a wide range of projects; from education to £10m, retail to £35m, healthcare to £4m,residential (affordable and luxury) to £10m, industrial to £10m social and leisure up to £2m, MOD up to £20m and heritage up to £1m.
These projects cover a wide range of construction from basement construction (Buttermarket, Ipswich), steel frame, concrete frame, timber frame, masonry, rain screen cladding, traditional roof to hard metal, various fenestration systems including structural glass. Extensive finishes from typical to acoustic sprays, polished concrete to typical plaster and paint. Services installations have included large central plant with dull mechanical ventilation, renewable technologies such as ground source heat pump, PV array, biomass and fossil fuel.
Andy and the board steered Gipping to achieve ISO 9001 and 14001 in 2017 and ISO 45001 in 2024. Under Andy’s joint managing directorship, Gipping has continued to grow with both margin and turnover increasing by over 50%. Under Andy and Paul’s joint directorship, Gipping become an Employee Owned Trust in August 2023.
