It was a beautiful day last Thursday, October 5, for the Topping Out of the first of ninety-six new homes being developed at Ravenswood, Ipswich, by local firm, Gipping Construction who were recently awarded ‘The Bricks Site Recognition Award’ for August from LABC Warranty for the consistent quality of workmanship and site management shown at the development.
The Ravenswood development for Handford Homes, part of Ipswich Borough Council, is being constructed on the site of the former Ipswich Airport and is an important step in the Council’s continued commitment to provide more homes to the people of Ipswich.
The development is a mix of sustainably designed houses and flats and will include solar panels, plentiful open green space, gardens, and ample parking.
The Topping Out ceremony is a longstanding tradition in the construction industry, signifying the placement of the final structural beam at the highest point of the building. Gipping Construction and Handford Homes were delighted to welcome the Mayor of Ipswich, Cllr Lynne Mortimer for this significant occasion.
The event was testament to the dedication and hard work of the construction, architectural, and engineering teams, and all those involved in bringing Ipswich Borough Council’s vision to life.
Colin Kreidewolf, Chair, Handford Homes, says:
“It was great to show the Mayor of Ipswich, Councillor Lynne Mortimer, the progress on such a significant project for Ipswich and to recognise the event.
Handford Homes prides itself on developing high quality affordable housing, that meets the needs of the people of Ipswich, whilst protecting our environment and surrounding wildlife”.
Councillor Neil MacDonald, Ipswich Borough Council Leader, says:
“Ravenswood is part of a significant Ipswich Borough Council initiative to provide affordable homes. Handford Homes will deliver over 300 properties within the next three years – all of which will contribute to our commitment to the environment and sustainable living”.
Andy Laflin, Managing Director, Gipping Construction, says:
“We are working with Handford Homes to construct a housing development that creates a community, and it was great to have the Mayor join us to celebrate this moment”.
